S.A.L. Permanent Membership Plan (PMP)

S.A.L. Permanent Membership Plan (PMP)Permanent Membership for Life — Right Here in Arizona

The Sons of The American Legion Detachment of Arizona Permanent Membership Plan (PMP) provides eligible Arizona SAL members with a way to secure permanent membership in the Detachment of Arizona.

The program begins July 1, 2025 and is administered solely by the Sons of The American Legion Detachment of Arizona, a program of The American Legion Department of Arizona.

Important: The Arizona SAL PMP is a Detachment of Arizona program. It is not administered by the Sons of The American Legion National Organization or The American Legion National Organization, and it has no membership value outside the Detachment of Arizona.

Why Consider the PMP?

With the Permanent Membership Plan:

-Your permanent membership dues are paid through the PMP.
-The PMP fund pays applicable National and Detachment per-capita dues.
-Your Squadron remains your Squadron of record.
-Eligible Squadrons receive an annual PMP member reimbursement.
-Membership can be transferred between eligible Arizona Squadrons, subject to the PMP transfer requirements.
-The plan provides a long-term membership option for Sons who want to make a permanent commitment to the organization.

Who Is Eligible?
To enroll, a member must:
1.  Be in good standing with their Squadron of record.
2.  Have current Squadron, Detachment and National dues paid.
3.  Possess a valid Sons of The American Legion membership number when enrollment is entered.
4.  Complete the official PMP contract. Have the contract properly authorized by the member's Squadron Commander or Adjutant.

Your Squadron Still Matters

Becoming a PMP member does not mean you lose your Squadron affiliation.

Your Squadron remains your Squadron of record, and eligible Squadrons receive an annual PMP member reimbursement for members who remain on that Squadron's rolls for the entire membership year, subject to the PMP rules.

Moving to Another Arizona Squadron?

PMP membership may be transferred between eligible, fully chartered Arizona Squadrons that are not under suspension, probation or other disciplinary action.

A $25 non-refundable transfer fee applies.

The PMP transfer and the regular membership transfer are separate processes and must both be completed.

Important: A transfer outside the Detachment of Arizona fulfills the PMP with no residual membership value.

Important Things to Know

No Refunds

PMP payments are non-refundable, including in the event of a member's death or other circumstances occurring after enrollment.

Arizona Only

The PMP is specifically a Detachment of Arizona program and does not provide membership value outside Arizona.
